Are you a Lake-friendly Business?
1. To find out,
2. Enter in your address to see if your property has a BMP certificate.
3. If so, you may be able to participate in the Lake-Friendly Business program!
TRPA would like to recognize businesses for doing their part to help protect Lake Tahoe by publically thanking them for installing and maintaining their water quality BMPs. Business owners are encouraged to create an inspection and maintenance protocol for installed BMPs to ensure they are eligible for participation in this program. Helpful and detailed BMP information, including guidance for creating a simple maintenance log, can be found
What’s in it for
• Each Lake-Friendly Business will be provided with a framed certificate and a window sticker identifying them as a Lake-Friendly Business. • TRPA will place monthly ads in local media announcing the Lake-Friendly Businesses campaign and thanking businesses that have their BMPs. The ads will include information on how Lake-Friendly Businesses play a vital role in improving the clarity of Lake Tahoe and a list of all qualified businesses, inviting other businesses to join. • In addition, TRPA will spotlight select businesses as part of our education and advertising campaign to help explain the benefits of installing and maintaining commercial BMPs. • The education campaign will include running stories about local Lake Friendly Businesses in upcoming issues of Tahoe In Depth, Lake Tahoe’s new environmental newspaper that gets mailed to every property owner in the Basin. • TRPA will be collaborating with a number of partners, including the League to Save Lake Tahoe and other organizations to encourage consumers to shop at Lake Friendly Businesses beginning next spring.
Please let us know if you or the owner of the property are regularly maintaining your water quality BMPs and are qualified to be part of the Lake-Friendly Business program. Contact us at (775) 589-5202 or
