What is the BMP Retrofit Program?
Chapter 25 of the TRPA Code of Ordinances requires
all developed properties in the Tahoe Basin attain a BMP Certificate on Completion
by installing and maintaining Best Management Practices (BMPs). BMPs help improve
water quality and reduce the decline in lake water clarity by minimizing soil erosion
and capturing polluted water before it enters Lake Tahoe.
How do I obtain a BMP Certificate of Completion?
Once BMPs are installed, properties must pass a Final Inspection before a Certificate
of Completion is issued. If you are unsure whether a property has a Certificate
of Completion or not, look up the BMP Status on our BMP Database.
